Curriculum Coordinator Multiple Content Areas
Qualifications:
- Five (5) or more years of teaching experience; one (1) year (three (3) or more years preferred) teaching in the District.
- Commitment to supporting the growth of others and the belief that adult learning is essential to student learning.
- Extensive knowledge and experience within the area of curriculum instruction and assessment including specific knowledge of the Iowa Core.
- Experience designing presenting and facilitating adult professional learning experiences.
- Demonstrated ability to use data to make decisions about curriculum and instruction.
- Knowledge and experience using district technology resources.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrated involvement in professional growth opportunities and experience working collaboratively as a member of a professional development planning team.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.

Supervises:
- While the position does assist in the coordination of evaluative components of the Teacher Leadership Program Curriculum Coordinators will not hire supervise or evaluate teachers.
Job Goal(s):
Provides district level leadership support and professional development for teachers Instructional Design Strategists and Instructional Leadership Teams in the alignment of curriculum instruction and assessment with the Iowa Core Curriculum and other content area standards. Works collaboratively to enhance student learning promote the overall efficiency of the school system and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provides direction and leadership for curricular area programs consistent with District initiatives.
- Collaborates with the Director of Curriculum Instruction and Assessment and building administrators to plan and provide professional learning to contentarea teachers.
- Supports collaborative teams and individual teachers in the process of aligning content instruction and assessments with the Iowa Core and other content standards through
- developing common understandings that align with state and local standards;
- designing and delivering effective instruction that aligns with the agreed upon understandings engages all students and is differentiated to meet student needs;
- assessing both formatively and summatively to measure student learning and sharing these assessments with collaborative teams to improve as teachers and as a system;
- working together to ensure all students are provided equitable educational experiences and achieve high levels of learning.
- Guides implementation of state requirements in the content area.
- Provides direction and leadership for the curriculum review process in accordance with the district review cycle.
- Guides implementation of the school improvement plan for the curricular area.
- Manages and provides relevant resources textbooks and online subscriptions for schools and teachers in the content area related to instruction and assessment.
- Collects and analyzes district level assessment data to support the planning implementation and evaluation of content standards.
- Maintains up to date information on the district website for the content area.
- Responds to content area inquiries by staff parents community and public.
- Additional responsibilities unique to position as necessitated by the content area
- Other duties as assigned to the specific curricular discipline.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Contract Days: 184 Total Days (District teacher contract). Salary: Placement on teacher salary schedule plus a coordinator stipend based on Collective Bargaining Agreement and/or additional days based on the TLC program provisions. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: This position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the TLC program (including peer review). In addition performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Districts policy on Evaluation State Statute and applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
