SALARY RANGE: $16.50 $18.00 Per Hour

Definition of Classification:
The Audio Visual Technician supports and manages the audiovisual and instructional media resources associated facilities as well as events that take place at the campus that require audiovisual setup and support.
Reporting to the Audio Visual Services Manager this position works with and serves as a liaison to various departments on campus to provide Audio Visual support. The position will be expected to work on weekdays typically between 9:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m. including frequent evening and weekend shifts*. The work schedule will depend on the projects and events at hand.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- The setup and breakdown of small PA systems Livestreaming equipment and web conferencing facilities throughout campus per event requests.
- Assists the Manager Audio Visual Services in the oversight and training of student employees and management of Media Services Inventory and physical facilities.
- Ensures the proper checkout and setup of equipment that is loaned to the campus
- Stays abreast of developments and innovations in audiovisual and media technologies research and pilot testing and implements these technologies to improve the service provided by Media Services.
- May participate in planning and coordination meetings with
various departments. - Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification Guidelines
Any combination equivalent to but not limited to the following:
Experience/Training/Education:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent supplemented with two years of college or technicalrelated school coursework or a certification in a related field.
- One year of experience managing and supporting audiovisual services and equipment or related experience.
- A valid California Class C CA drivers license with a good driving record is required. Note: Outofstate licenses are valid until appointment. A valid California Class C drivers license must be obtained within ten (10) days of appointment (in accordance with CA Vehicle Code 12505c).
Preferred
- Experience in higher education is preferred.
- A bachelors degree with a technical or electronics emphasis is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Working knowledge in the usage and support of audiovisual equipment including but not limited to speakers projectors microphones sound boards and cameras of the University operations policies and objectives.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of inventory control and storage.
- Knowledge of the appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills using tact patience and courtesy.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Customer service oriented and must be prepared to translate the nontechnical needs of the clients into what may be technically needed for an effective audiovisual setup.
- Effective problemsolving skills.
- Ability to work independently with little direction.
- Ability to learn to interpret apply and explain rules regulations policies and
- Ability to coordinate and lead the audiovisual setup for highprofile events in collaboration with other departments.
- Ability to plan organize and prioritize work.
- Highly disciplined and detailoriented to train and lead a team of student workers in supporting events and academic courses that require audiovisual setup and
- Strong time management and organizational skills handling multiple assignments.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
- Proficient in computer software/hardware and audio/visual system support and troubleshooting to maintain and deploy computers and other audiovisual equipment
for events. - Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite OBS and Zoom.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with professionalism sensitivity
and neutrality. - Ability to use appropriate judgment when making decisions and recommendations.
- Must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students faculty and staff.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Working Conditions:
Standard office and field settings. Duties performed are primarily in the field on location assistance for event set up etc. and maybe in an office environment while sitting at a desk or computer workstation or in meetings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort. Must be flexible and able to work evening and weekend hours.
Physical Demands:
Incumbents regularly stand for long periods; speak clearly and distinctly to provide information; see to read fine print and operate computer; hear and understand voices over telephone and in person; use hands and fingers to operate an electronic keyboard or other office machines; walk on a regular basis; travel to various locations; finger dexterity may be required to utilize and operate the specialized tools and equipment; distinguish colors and have depth perception; reach with hands and arms; pushing pulling lifting and occasional crawling; stoop or kneel or crouch; ascend/descent ladders stairs scaffolding ramps and/or poles; and lift carry and/or move objects typically weighing up to 1025 pounds and on occasion up to 65 pounds. There may be exposure to inclement weather as well as to dirt/dust chemicals/solvents and noise with occasional exposure to temperature extremes and vibrations.

HIRING RANGE:Anticipated hiring range is near or at the minimum of the classification commensurate with candidates education experience skills and training. The University of Redlands is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience skills knowledge abilities education licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is defined as the Full Pay Range. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is defined as theHiring Range. Placement within the Hiring Range is determined by internal equity and relevant qualifications.
BACKGROUND CHECK:Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. DRIVERS LICENSE CHECK:Possession of a valid Drivers License is required for certain positions. PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMS:For certain positions typically in Public Safety Facilities Athletics and Information Technology Services departments employment is contingent upon a candidate passing a preemployment physical exam with the ability to lift in excess of 50 Safety Officers in addition to a preemployment physical exam will also be required to pass a psychological evaluation.
