The AWS Core Networking Organization is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join our Network Product Development (NPD) org. The Engineer will work handinhand with Software Development and Network Engineering teams to automate and invent new ways of operating Amazons network. This role will interact with customers leadership and senior peers. This role will develop best practices improve operational procedures use a proactive mindset deliver iterative impact for customers and help drive this same culture across the team.

AWS Core Networking team is focused on building Data Centers and the network that allows Data Centers to function efficiently. They own the solutions that allow racks to be aggregated and Data Centers to be interconnected. Core Networkings goal is to balance efficiency performance and reliability to allow customers access to their applications and data.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words were the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers storage networking power and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Key job responsibilities
You will solve complex and ambiguous problems efficiently and with highquality. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the definition vision design roadmap development and operationalization of customerfacing services. You will be given an outcome and the freedom to set the direction based on data driven decisions. You will be part of a startup with the backing of a large company.

In this role youll contribute to critical and highlyvisible function within the AWS business. You will work alongside other talented builders and across multiple teams. Youll also:
Part of the team that shapes the automation future in networking.
Develop DevOps and automation tasks for test infrastructure.
Use and develop tools and process that collect & rationalize data from different sources and frameworks that reduce workloads.
Use data to measure success and take responsibility for the quality of your service and regardless of their source; Strive to prevent faults from impacting your customers.
Develop best in class software systems for automating Amazons network.
Work closely with our Network Engineering teams to ensure fast and smooth software rollouts.
Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues with effective escalation to seniorlevel engineering teams.
Learn design and build cloudcomputing system software for a diverse set of customers.

A day in the life
You will be a handson technical lead. You will work with customers to gather requirements and generate technical designs and you will carry the project through all the software lifecycle stages. Youll develop products that enable builders to develop and operate robust highquality software and safely securely and reliably deploy it. You will use your strong leadership and communication skills to mentor other engineers and provide training and support for our technologies. You will have access to senior leadership and engineering staff.

About the team
The FAROS (Fleet Automation and Release Orchestration Services) team leads critical initiatives that power AWSs network infrastructure deployment and reliability. We develop intelligent automation systems that seamlessly deploy operating systems configurations firmware and features across AWSs global datacenter network. Our innovative anomaly detection capabilities help safeguard network stability by proactively identifying and containing potential issues. As a cornerstone of AWSs networking infrastructure we collaborate across organizational boundaries to build resilient scalable solutions that enhance deployment reliability while reducing production defects.

3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language

3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
