Virginia Department of Transportations (VDOT) is excited to offer and announce a competitive opportunity to serve as a parttime Senior Traffic Program Specialist in our Central Office Traffic Operations Division. The selected individual will conduct analysis and provide support to assigned operational program area. Some duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to performing policy research development analysis and interpretation on behalf of the Traffic Engineer. Monitoring and assessing the impact of the proposed legislation and developing impact statements on behalf of the department. Performing additional duties tasks activities and projects as assigned by management.

**We will be filling multiple positions from this one recruitment**

This position is an Hourly/Wage position. Hourly(wage) positions may not work more than an average of 29 hours per week and cannot exceed 1500 hours during the wage employment year (May1April 30). This position does not include health insurance retirement or leave benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of federal state and local transportation rules regulations and policies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures related to traffic engineering.
  • Skill in evaluating investigating gathering and analyzing data for business support and quality decisions by management.
  • Skill in organization and time management.

Additional Considerations

  • A combination of training experience or education in Civil Engineering or related field desired.

This position is designated as essential employees may be required to work in emergencies to include weekends holidays and after normal business hours; assignments may vary based on business needs to include working in severe weather.

Once onboarded this position may be eligible for telework opportunities; availability hours and duration of telework shall be approved as outlined in the Commonwealth telework policy. (only for eligible positions)
