What Were Looking For
Baylor University is seeking an Assistant Director of Community Relations to support the mission and vision of the University within the Division of Marketing and Communications by providing campuswide infrastructure for coordinating supporting and advancing communityfocused engagement with the purpose of leveraging the Universitys collective influence towards promoting positive social and economic change. The Assistant Director of Community Relations serves under this office with a focus on community relations by means of the Baylor Waco Initiative (BWI) which coordinates Baylor Universitys work as an anchor institution/corporate citizen within the City of Waco for the purpose of building up the Waco community in ways that benefit both Waco and Baylor. This position is responsible for supporting community engagement work by leading programs and promoting opportunities for Baylor faculty staff and students to make a positive impact on our community both on and off campus.
A Bachelors Degree and a at least three years of relevant work experience is required. A Masters Degree and five years of relevant work experience is preferred.
Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a FullTime basis.
What You Will Do
- Assist the stewardship and facilitation of the Baylor Waco Initiative the Universitys community relations strategy aligning programs and partnerships with the Universitys broader engagement objectives
- Serve as a university ambassador by developing and maintaining relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including nonprofit and civic leaders community groups small business owners and City of Waco officials
- Responsible for developing and implementing a range of programs and events to advance community partnerships and leadership development both on campus and within Waco with the supervisors direction and leadership
- Manage timelines to meet deadlines and expectations of leadership and program stakeholders
- Work collaboratively across the Division of Marketing and Communications to coordinate resources that can be utilized in marketing materials across the university
- This role may propose or advise on budget allocation to projects
- Manage student worker(s)
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylors mission
- Ability to comply with university policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
