JOB SUMMARY
Leads a team of assigned staff members and actively participates in overall management of the department development of clinical practice standards and provision of patientfocused delivery of care and services with accountabilities for implementation and outcomes for people leadership quality service compliance finance throughput and scheduling. Ensure the departments optimal performance during each assigned shift and within their team of direct reports by engaging in effective problem solving with lab staff and where appropriate and other departments assuring performance standards for patient care are met and developing/leading the assigned team. Position Summary:
Monroe Carell Jr. Childrens Hospital at Vanderbilt is seeking aLead Occupational Therapistto provide clinical expertise and strategic leadership within ourNeonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Our pioneering 119 bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Monroe Carell Jr. provides highly specialized familycentered care for baby needs.

This is aprofessional leadership positionresponsible for advancing neonatal occupational therapy practice mentoring staff providing advanced clinical expertise and driving innovation in care delivery.

The ideal candidate will bringextensive experience in neonatal therapyand demonstrate a strong commitment to evidencebased practice interdisciplinary collaboration and professional development.Membership in the National Association of Neonatal Therapists (NANT)is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a clinical leader and subject matter expert in neonatal occupational therapy.

  • Lead program development initiatives and quality improvement projects within the NICU.

  • Mentor and support occupational therapy staff in clinical skill development and professional growth.

  • Collaborate with neonatologists nurses and other allied health professionals to ensure comprehensive familycentered care.

  • Contribute to research education and policy development related to neonatal therapy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

  • Current Tennessee OT license (or eligibility).

  • Minimum 5 years of pediatric occupational therapy experience with at least 3 years in a Level III or IV NICU.

  • Demonstrated experience in burn care and complex neonatal conditions.

  • Proven leadership in clinical practice education or program development.

  • Membership in theNational Association of Neonatal Therapists (NANT).

  • Experience with interdisciplinary team leadership and mentorship.

  • Involvement in clinical research or publication.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises day to day performance of staff through ongoing assessment and coaching to achieve goals.
Completes formal evaluation of direct reports.
Supports leadership team in development of staff members by providing substantive feedback.
Demonstrates clinical/technical knowledge needed to coach staff on daytoday activities.
Implements rehab specific policies and practice guidelines in accordance with VUMC policy and regulatory standards using standardized tools and instruments.
