Transmission Line Engineer 2

GAI is seeking an Engineer 2 (transmission line) to join our Power Delivery team working remotely based in Austin TX. Required skills include transmission line design experience critical thinking problem solving organization teamfocus and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real life problems.

The Engineer 2 is responsible for technical leadership and the successful delivery of transmission line designs while maintaining the scope schedule budget and quality of projects within GAIs Transmission & Distribution Division. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical communication and computer skills.

Competency

• Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design.

Job Responsibilities:

• Complete daytoday project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include:
• Preparation of Specification Packages
• Preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings
• Design and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLSCADD PLSPOLE and PLSTower is a bonus
• Design and Analysis of foundations.
• Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and Other required codes standards and specifications.
• Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations.
• Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects.
• Must demonstrate attention to detail.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Perform complex tasks typically following established processes.
• Implements effective engineering methods provides technical guidance and acts as a resource for engineers and designers.
• Directly manages projects with no limit to the number or value of individual projects managed.

Education and Training Preferred:

• Bachelors degree from an ABET accredited college or university in engineering is required. Preferred a degree in Civil or Electrical engineering.
• PE License required
• Comprehensive knowledge of transmission line design concepts and principles.
• Demonstrated track record of external customer engagements and building and maintaining successful client relationships.
• 6 years of experience in transmission line design.
• Required experience with PLS suite (PLSCADD and PLSPOLE).
• Preferred experience with PLSTOWER and FAD Tools.

Education

• B.S. or M.S. Engineering

Certification/Licensure

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) License

Technical Responsibilities

• Designs a complete project system component or process.
• Prepares complete plans specifications and other project documents.
• Begins to develop and reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.

Management Responsibility

• Receives general direction on key objectives. Receives guidance on unconventional/complex problems direction on modified techniques and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.
• Mentors junior staff by providing guidance explaining professional responsibilities and reviewing work products.
• Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.

Communication Skills

• Communicates effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
