The University Honors & Scholars Programs (UHSP) currently offers eight distinct interdisciplinary pathways that broaden a Mines education. UHSP offers the Thorson FirstYear and Grandey FirstYear Honors the McBride Honors Program in Public Affairs (minor/degree path) the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) (STEMed credentialing program/major degree and minor pathway; nonthesis MS program) the Grand Challenges Scholars Program Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships and Future Energy Scholars. The eight programs include curricular cocurricular and extracurricular opportunities for students to create signature experience beyond their major that adds depth and breadth to a wellrounded education. UHSP supports 20% of Mines undergraduates and continues to grow.
The purpose of this fulltime position is to: Support honors as well as scholar related experiences for current Mines students; oversee management and hiring of UHS undergraduates student employees; manage various projects for UHSP including projects pertaining to marketing and policies and procedural materials; support faculty and undergraduate students in expense and reimbursement of Honors Enrichment Awards and funding practicum conference and enrichment experiences; work directly with program directors to help design market and facilitate various events for UHS undergraduate students; provide program coordination for McBride Thorson Grandey Grand Challenges Scholars Future Energy Scholars and Teach @Mines; miscellaneous duties and tasks related to UHS and its programs as needed including occasional work on weekends and evenings. The Program Assistant will spend the majority of their time and effort working closely with the UHS Department Manager and the UHS Executive Director to support University Honors and Scholars program coordination which involves improving and managing existing departmental systems used for interviews for program applicants processing applications coordinating UHS events under the direction of the Department Manager as well as design and manage the UHS website.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Four years of administrative support experience including data entry social media and computer skills proficiency. Must possess excellent written verbal and listening skills; outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills; strong organizational skills; ability to multitask. Ability to work with a diverse population. Part time work will be prorated.
Candidate must be a current Colorado resident in order to apply for this position.
Substitutions:
College university or noncorrespondence business school course work may substitute on a yearforyear basis for the general clerical or administrative services experience but not for the specific experience. If you are substituting coursework for any of the required experience you must submit your transcripts for this coursework.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior relevant state experience in higher education administration working within an academic setting.
Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft suite programs including Teams
Experience with Wordpress
Workday experience
Highly organized
Can multitask well
