Were on the hunt for our next Executive Vice President (EVP) of Donated Goods Retail. This is a unique opportunity to join the team to strategize inspire and oversee one of the best brands in thrift in one of the biggest retail markets in the world. Our next leader will lead all retail donation acquisition postretail logistics operations and sustainability efforts. This highly engaged leader will bring strategic vision to expand our businesses and tactical expertise to implement high operating standards. Our motto is to put every donation to work. The EVP will also lead real estate strategy and execution to grow our market presence and build loyalty among new shoppers and donors. Reporting to the CEO this position is part of the Goodwill NYNJ executive leadership team and will ensure that retail operations are aligned with the mission and values of the organization.

The Awesome Things Youll Do

  • Lead and implement aggressive initiatives targeted at increasing the number and quality of donations efficient processing of those donations and the resulting strong increase in sales.
  • Effectively plan establish and manage a retail team that can effectively execute operational improvements and growth of revenue. A focus on building and using consistent KPIs that lead to clear accountability from VPs through sales and production teams.
  • Assess market opportunities to develop business plans & process redesign with clear ROI goals in key business areas including transportation and warehouse utilization; donation acquisition; shopper and donor loyalty; production efficiency; omnichannel retail flow.
  • Analyze trends in the thrift sector to develop and implement initiatives that are responsive to those trends and ensure Goodwills retail businesses is profitable to contribute to mission.
  • Build and grow relationships with traditional retailers sanitation departments recyclers fashion brands colleges and ecommerce platforms to cross promote create synergy in reuse to grow donations and bottom line.
  • Lead in the design & implementation of retail incentives rewards and recognition strategy to build loyalty to Goodwill and retention of teams. Building culture of accountability in which regional leaders and store managers are equipped and accountable for attaining financial and operating goals.
  • Partner with HR in talent development strategy to build strong management teams and coach staff to potential. Drive training mentoring and ways to develop teams to grow into leaders and fill leadership roles internally.
  • Innovate to grow ecommerce with new selling strategies AI and efficient workflow to capture value of donated goods and increase reuse of treasures.
  • Create customercentric donation experiences to increase revenue and create supplemental strategies for increasing quality and frequency of donations.
  • Own the Goodwill brand experience for the shopper ensuring a quality interaction with the brands value and purpose in understanding of our mission donate stuff create jobs.

The Experiences Skills and Perspectives Youll Bring

  • 10 years in directing retail store operations logistics and omnichannel management
  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
  • Proven business management and organizational skills as well as ability to drive accountability through metrics and measurement
  • Strong track record in implementing successful store expansion and hitting proforma targets
  • Connection & commitment to Goodwills mission and mission integration
  • Ability to think strategically and coach others to do so. History of leading successful change and adoption across diverse environments.
  • Problem solver who is able to launch MVPs and try new ways
  • Effective relationship builder who is skilled in outreach and partnerships
  • Strong multitasker prioritizer and delegator accomplished at developing teams culture and enabling learning at every level of the organization
  • Effective communicator negotiator and influencer
  • Brings in diverse thinking curiosity and engagement throughout the team.
  • Works directly with our Board of Directors and understands creating buy in with the Board to understand strategy and help them be ambassadors of thrift.
