Our initial crewed space habitat will be Haven1 scheduled to be the worlds first commercial space station when it launches into low earth orbit in May 2026. Vast is looking for a Senior Planner reporting to the E2 Principal Engineer to create the worlds highest performing engine for small launchers while optimizing for production and low cost. In this role you will join a team with exciting momentum that has produced and successfully tested fully integrated engine development samples. You will be a key member who will help transition the system from development to production.
This will be a fulltime exempt position located in our Hawthorne location.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the planning and scheduling of E2 production ensuring it is completed on time and within budget
- Coordinate and manage resources including equipment materials and personnel to optimize project efficiency and productivity
- Serve as the lead in identifying and assessing the impact of shortages while incorporating viable and achievable workarounds that mitigate the effect of shortages
- Develop manage and maintain accurate BOM records within ERP/MES system
- Facilitate make versus buy decisions based on business need date and resource allocation
- Build and develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders including engineering and manufacturing
- Develop performance measures to clearly illustrate actions risks and opportunities
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Business or Engineering discipline
- 5 years experience with demand planning in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with different manufacturing states of hardware
- Lead scheduling discussions with multiple stakeholders and customers
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Significant experience working with BOMs and understands how they integrate with overall systems (ERP/MRP)
- Demonstrated familiarity with program/project management and managing associated schedules
- Ability to make independent judgments with limited information
- Logical and strategic approach to solving problems
- Comfortable working in a stress environment balancing several projects at any given time and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
Salary Range: California
$95000 $138000 USD
