Intervention Teacher / Reading Specialist (Part Time)
Location: Staten Island Hebrew Public (829 Father Capodanno Blvd Staten Island NY 10305)
Start Date: Summer 2025
Hours: 3 days a week 9am3pm
Compensation: $30000 (more details below)

Whats the role
We are looking for a driven Intervention Teacher & Reading Specialist (Part Time) to deliver engaging standardsbased instruction utilize Responsive Classroom techniques and monitor student progress while collaborating with colleagues to refine teaching practices. You dont need to speak Hebrew to apply and we strongly encourage candidates from traditionally underrepresented groups to join our community!
What youll do
- A strong commitment to all students with the belief that all students can learn and must be held to high academic standards;
- Commitment to professional growth through selfreflection receptiveness to feedback and a continuous desire to improve;
- Produce quality next generation learning standard aligned lesson plans that strive for higherlevel objectives while accommodating all learning styles;
- Analyze and regularly review student assessment data from a variety of sources both formally and informally to drive curricular and pedagogical choices and adjustments;
- Administer the NYSITEL to all new entrants within 10 days of entry to school;
- Administer the NYSESLAT to all Multilingual Learner (MLL) and English Language Learner (ESL) students each year;
- Provide small group pullout services to tier 3 students for intervention
- Maximize learning time through effective classroom management;
- Provide an inviting exciting learning environment using varied instructional techniques and developmentally appropriate strategies;
- Mastery/deep knowledge in instructional subject area with an undergraduate major or minor or graduate degree in the subject;
- Strong desire to collaborate with other faculty and instructional leaders to discuss student work and ensure curricular coherence;
- Boundless energy and enthusiasm for working with students and other adults in the building.
Who you are
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required; Masters degree is a plus
- K12 lead teaching experience in a classroom setting is a plus
- Experience in urban public charter or Title I schools is a plus
- Hold NY teacher certification or working towards certification is a plus
- OrtonGillingham reading specialist or literacy specialist certification is a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Legally authorized to work in the USA
