    Position Description

    The Assistant Principal under the direction of the Middle School Principal shall assist in all aspects of the management and operation of the school. The Assistant Principal is expected to maintain a safe caring studentcentered environment that promotes high academic and ethical standards among students and staff. Through the Assistant Principals actions all staff will recognize that the sole purpose of the schools existence is the students and the focus of all decisions shall be predicated on that precept. The Assistant Principal operates within the framework of District policies and procedures adopted by the Board of Education the requirements of the California Education Code the California Code of Regulations Title V and the rules and regulations of the State Department of Education.

    Qualifications
    • Holds or is eligible for an Administrative Services credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
    • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience
    • Has successful experience dealing with students behavior and conduct
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Leadership experience in a school
    • Knowledge of best instructional practices for middle school
    • Knowledge of datadriven instruction and the analysis of student data
    • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Continuous Improvement strategies i.e. PDSA Goal Teams student goals classroom goals as they apply to the site plan
    • Effective skills to guide problemsolving and decision making
    • Ability to work cooperatively with school administration teachers support staff and parents
    • Ability to relate to K5 students
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Knowledge of California frameworks and curriculum alignment for K8
    • Valid California drivers license
    • Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities

    Compensation
    • $173706 $213635; 215 workdays based on the 202526salary schedule

    Degree Stipends Annual stipend to be paid for each of the following degrees (limit two: prorated by FTE): Doctorate $2700; Masters $2500 National Board Certified Teachers $2500


    Examples of Duties & Responsibilities
    • Monitor and support program implementation for increased student achievement as outlined in the school site plan
    • Assist staff and cooperatively work with specialists assigned to the school in planning organizing and implementing the programs at the site
    • Monitor student behavior and apply consequences
    • Set goals observe instruction provide feedback and evaluate teachers
    • Organize and monitor transition activities between elementary and middle school
    • Organize emergency preparedness planning and practice with students and staff
    • Promote communication among school staff students and parents
    • Lead committee meetings and takes notes as assigned by the principal
    • Work with the principal to organize and supervise the student playground at recesses
    • Promote with all staff the valuing of every students right to be treated with dignity and respect
    • Promote with all students the valuing of every staff members right to be treated with dignity and respect
    • Maintain ongoing twoway communication with staff to develop support for the school and Districts longrange goals as well as daytoday operations
    • Coordinate and provide direction/supervision for student activities
    • Assume the leadership of the school in the Principals absence as may be required
    • Report to the Principal on growth and improvement of assigned school programs
    • Strive to continually improve management and administration skills and abilities
    • Work closely and cooperatively as a member of the District management team
    • Responsible for assigned management and operation functions under the direction of the Principal
    • Assist the Principal in ensuring high quality curriculum design and delivery
    • Assist the Principal in providing an ongoing process of student assessment
    • Plan/design the appropriate staff development to support/reinforce the mission of the school and the continued professional growth for staff as directed
    • Demonstrate leadership and support of the educational and administrative philosophies of the District
    • Serve on the appropriate committees and organizations to assure the interests of the school are properly represented as assigned
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students parents community members outside agency personnel and other interested school stakeholders
    • Serve as school and District representative to school club and school site council as assigned
    • Facilitate an understanding of the school budget with staff and community as directed
    • Promote positive staff morale and commitment
    • Acknowledge accomplishments of colleagues and subordinates
    • Respect and maintain professional confidences
    • Use appropriate professional channels for communicating personal/professional concerns
    • Demonstrate collegial and organizational loyalties
    • Other duties as assigned by the principal
