This Bridge Operator position is a Guaranteed Rotating Extra Board (GREB) role requiring oncall availability to cover shifts when permanently assigned employees are absent. This position is a part of the Transportation department which plays a crucial role in supporting daytoday operations contributing to the overall success and growth of BNSF Railway.
This position is On Call 24 hours a day 7 days a week including nights weekends and holidays. Guaranteed 40 hours per week.
Travel is minimal.
Training for this position is companypaid onthejob training.
Key responsibilities may include any of the following assignments on a shift:
Crew Haulingduties include driving a BNSF crew van to transport train crews within a 200mile radius navigating rail yards city and highway traffic rough terrain and difficult weather conditions.
Tower Operator duties include using a computer to remotely operate track switches for safe train movement and employee protection in rail yards.
Administrative duties include perform general typing filing sorting delivering mailing maintaining supplies and preparing reports and correspondence using a computer.
Daily work is conducted in a safety sensitive environment where the working conditions can include diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot cold rain snow and sleet) walking and performing work on uneven surfaces working around loud noises fumes and heavy/moving machinery.
