2 years experience as phlebotomist required.
Superior customer service skills clear communications skills and ability to show empathy and respect for patients privacy and autonomy. Excellent patient interaction skills in person and by phone. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Successful completion of patient care technician course is required within 3 months of employment.
Preferred:
CPR CAN PBT MLA or CPT Certification.
2 or more years of experience working in a clinical laboratory and experience as a medical assistant.
CPR Certified/Licensed.
Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
Collects blood specimens from patients of all ages using venipuncture or capillary methods ensuring minimal discomfort.
Ensures all collected specimens are properly labeled with patient identifiers and document collection details in the laboratory information system.
Communicates effectively with patients to explain procedures address concerns and provide instructions for specimen collection such as fasting requirements.
Performs routine maintenance and quality control checks on phlebotomy equipment reporting any malfunctions to supervisors.
Monitors and maintains inventory levels of phlebotomy supplies ensuring adequate stock for daily operations.
Adheres to infection control protocols OSHA guidelines and other regulatory standards to ensure a safe working environment.
Assists in training and mentoring new or less experienced phlebotomists providing guidance on techniques and protocols.
Works closely with laboratory technicians nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth operation of the blood collection and testing processes.
May perform other duties as assigned.
