Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Instructional Design and Faculty Development the Instructional Designer functions as a liaison to faculty in accord with their efforts to develop online courses and fully online programs to enhance the teaching and learning environment in a manner that meets or exceeds the Universitys standards for academic quality. The Instructional Designer is responsible for successfully introducing and incorporating academic pedagogical principles and learningenhanced technologies into course design initiatives within a variety of instructional modalities (online blended/hybrid webenhanced and inperson) courses across the University.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide guidance to the university community on instructional design methodologies processes and best practices for designing and teaching online blended/hybrid courses or inperson courses.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of online instructional programs.
- Assist faculty with the design development and teaching of online blended/hybrid and inperson courses.
- Work with course developing faculty to ensure alignment between instructional content learning activities and learning assessments with the identied course goals and objectives.
- Consult and guide coursedeveloping faculty members on how to deliver content in an online format with the support of appropriate technologies to support student learning.
- Demonstrate the effective use of multimedia for teaching and learning.
- Make sound recommendations on the use of learning assessment instruments including authentic assessments such as projects eportfolios and more.
- Ensure course design course materials and activities promote inclusivity and accessibility.
- Provide accessibility guidance and assistance for faculty.
- Research and recommend appropriate pedagogical strategies and emerging technologies for teaching and learning and make recommendations for their use.
- Manage projects to deploy and develop technologybased instructional design methodologies and tools.
- Develop and facilitate seminars and workshops that introduce faculty to new instructional design methods and technologies that can enhance the teaching and learning environment.
- Collaborate effectively with other instructional designers technology training staff and staff from other departments on various projects to achieve the goals that the unit has determined.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Instructional or Learning Design Educational Technology Adult Learning Curriculum and Instruction or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in curriculum development instructional design instructional technology or a related area.
- Knowledge of instructional design methodologies and pedagogical principles.
- Experience with faculty and staff development.
PREFERRED:
- Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Instructional Design or a related field.
- Experience with Canvas Learning Management Systems.
- Demonstrated experience with a variety of instructional and emerging technologies including web conferencing screencasting and multimedia tools.
- Prociency with online course development.
- Strong communication skills organizational skills and interpersonal skills.
