Job Description

TITLE: School Vice Principal

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Kentucky Certification

REPORTS TO: Principal and Superintendent

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

  1. To assist in the planning organization administration and management of the school.
  2. Help maintain an orderly learning atmosphere and keep the principal fully informed of the schools activities and problems.
  3. Serve as principal in the absence of the principal; assumes the duties of the principal in his/her absence or as assigned and responds to emergency calls.
  4. Participates in and supervised a variety of student activities and oversees the maintenance of standards concerning student discipline health safety and general welfare including duties pertaining to suspensions and expulsions.
  5. Carry out a variety of administrative responsibilities including supervision of student transportation maintenance of buildings and facilities cafeteria operations and afterhours use of the facilities.
  6. Participates in the planning developing implementation and evaluation of instructional programs and materials.
  7. Approve and order supplies textbooks and equipment; participates in the selection of basic and supplemental texts and multimedia and other instructional or reference materials.
  8. Assist in the development and execution of schoolbased staff development and/or inservice training programs.
  9. Assist in developing the overall schedule of classes and also in development of individual student schedules when necessary.
  10. Assist in conducting safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
  11. Share with the principal the responsibility of coordinating transportation other than the daily bus routes to and from school.
  12. Assist in the evaluation of faculty and support staff.
  13. Make routine personnel assignments including securing selecting and assigning of substitute teachers.
  14. Reports and monitors student attendance and works with the DPP on investigative followup activities concerning truant students.
  15. Oversee the students compliance to the Student Code of Acceptable Behavior.
  16. Supervise school grounds and cafeteria.
  17. Serve with parent faculty student and SBDM Council groups as requested.
  18. Work with the curriculum and related areas.
  19. Maintain communication and serve as liaison with parents and civic and community groups.
  20. Performs such record keeping functions as the Principal may direct.
  21. Participates in the preparation of a variety of reports forms and surveys.
  22. Update the Student Handbook and the Code of Acceptable Behavior each year.
  23. Enforce all School Board and school policies.
  24. Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
  25. Perform related duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
