POSITION HOURS
This PRN role (4 shifts per 6 weeks) is a blend of shifts.
Day Shift 6:45 am 7:15 pm
Night Shift 6:45 pm 7:15 am
*Set schedules are not available. Unit clinical staffing needs determine schedules. Since the Float Pool covers other units staffing gaps flexibility in scheduling is required.
DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
The Pediatric Float Pool provides specialty services throughout Monroe Carell Jr. Childrens Hospital including acute care critical care emergency and neonatal ICU. One of the perks of working in the Pediatric Float Pool is the opportunity to collaborate with amazing people across the hospital. Our team supports units in pediatric medicine surgical services cardiology oncology/hematology emergency neonatal intensive care and pediatric intensive care.
Training Schedule:
Week 1:Monday & Tuesday during business hours and selfpaced online learning
Next:6 to 8 12hour shifts on multiple units for crosstraining to be completed within 3 weeks
Care Partner Position Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) AND one of the following:
Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester including nursing fundamentals clinical or
Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certification is not mandatory but a certificate of completion is required) or
Minimum of one year of recent experience (within the past two years) as a care partner or nursing assistant/patient care technician.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Assists with day to day delivery of patient care.
Facilitates efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards.
Serves as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs.
Supports unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies equipment and unit environmental standards.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
Clinical Competencies (Novice): Demonstrates sufficient fundamental proficiency to assist and perform clinical care including but not limited to vital signs phlebotomy specimen collection medication administration and point of care testing as directed by unit standards.
Care Partner Patient Documentation (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience or training working with clinical applications for patient documentation.
Environment of Care (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience or training working with set up and maintenance of patient exam rooms supplies and equipment.
Planning & Organizing (Fundamental Awareness): Demonstrates ability to anticipate basic resource needs identify discrete tasks set priorities define dependencies schedule activities meet deadlines and organize work for own assignments and responsibilities. Appropriately matches equipment and capital resources to task demands. Prepares and presents clear and accurate status reports on projects and assignments.
