The Sung Laboratory in the Department of Biology at the University of Iowa is seeking a full time Associate Research Scientist to conduct research in auditory science with a focus on understanding the mechanisms underlying hearing and hearing loss. Deafness and hearing loss are widespread and can be caused by aging loud noise exposure ear infections or ototoxic drugs. Emerging research increasingly highlights the critical role of the immune system in the development and progression of hearing loss. The Sung lab specifically aims to understand how the immune system within the cochlea (the hearing organ) contributes to hearing function and dysfunction particularly in the context of ototoxic drug exposure. This position will conduct research in auditory science with a focus on understanding the mechanisms underlying hearing and hearing loss.
This position is eligible forhybridwork within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy work arrangements will be reviewed annually and must comply with theremote work program and related policiesandemployee travel policy when working at a remote location.
