JOB SUMMARY:
Provide Spanish Language Arts instruction to high school students. Willing to be a team member to build the Dual Language Program. Assist students in the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual physical emotional and psychological growth and maturation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge Skills Abilities:Knowledge of: Must possess a thorough knowledge of reading and writing skills as well as techniques needed to teach those skills effectively in both languages. Knowledge of appropriate practices for teaching multilingual learners. Specific curriculum content for subject area.Skilled in: lesson plan development implementation of learning activities behavior management assessment and teaching to individual student skill levels.Ability to: Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Ability to bridge Spanish and English literacy as well as integrate English Language Development into instruction. Ability to communicate orally and in writing; able to build relationships with students parents and staff; Ability to Coteach; ability to collaborate across levels and Dual Language PLCs; trained in GLAD or Constructive Meaning strategies. Ability to implement effective teaching practices with strong classroom management skills. Data driven with project based learning to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff students and parents.
Experience:Prior experience teaching AP Spanish and articulating college credit. Preference given to candidates with successful experience in teaching Spanish and English.
Education:Completion of a higher education bachelors degree or masters degree in education/ teaching.
Certification Required: A valid teaching license issued by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission valid for Grades 912 with Spanish World Language and ESOL endorsements.

Language Skills:Ability to read English and comprehend complex technical language. Ability to write memoranda correspondence lessons plans reports and student achievement summaries in English. Ability to effectively present information in onetoone and small group situations.
Mathematical Skills:Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions in English. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities:Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers supervisor(s) staff students parents and community.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk and may be continuously required to stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee may be required to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods of time.

Works in a school environment. Able to use a telephone operate a computer and use other office equipment. Able to drive to other program sites and meetings.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year in accordance with negotiated agreement between licensed teachers and the district.
CLASSIFICATION:
Full time LicensedProbationary Contract forNewberg High School.
CALENDAR/BENEFITS:8 hours per day; 190 day contract; Position includes 2 days forNew Teacher InService prior to start date.
Salary range TBD once negotiations forare complete(Current range of theLicensed Salary Schedule $48741 $100225).
