JOB SUMMARY
Director of Finance isresponsible for administering the main finance focused business affairs of the school district in a manner which provides the best educational services with the financial resources available.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in business administration or accounting. A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in one of the above fields including at least five (5) years in a supervisory capacity. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Mainly in an office environment. Often in direct contact with employees administration board members and general public.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT & BUSINESS SERVICES
Accurately maintains capital asset accounting records including proper identification of capital assets depreciation schedules appropriate records and reconciliation of such accounts with the general ledger.
Ensures a balanced general ledger and prepares an accurate financial report that is reported to the Spartanburg 3 Board of Trustees on a monthly basis.
Plans develops and oversees budget process which includes developing overall budget strategy and longrange planning obtaining broad range of input prioritizing needs allocating resources among priorities communicating with community staff and Board and developing mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation of financial performance.
Monitors district cash flow and maximize districts use of resources by implementing cost savings programs generating investment income and cost effective borrowing.
Directs the review and updating of district policies and procedures in the business area as needed.
Oversees the districts financing activities that include planning structuring and obtaining financing for construction and property and equipment acquisitions.
Oversees the annual external audit process in accordance with OMB Circular A133 State Legislative and State Department of Education directives.
Oversees all procurement activities for the District.
Oversees the districts risk management activities and benefit programs (i.e. health liability tax sheltered plans life long term disability workers compensation and unemployment).
CHILD NUTRITION
Effectively coordinates the operation of the school food program with third party contractor and directs the efficient business management of the school lunch program.
Directs a program of accounting and direct operations of the financial affairs of the school lunch program in coordination with the thirdparty management company to ensure profit and compliance with all state and federal directives.
Administers the food service management companys contract in coordination with other school districts in the consortium.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary in accord with district salary scale for Executive Directors. Work year is comprised of 240 days per academic year as established by the Board of Trustees annually.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
