The Role
Were looking for a talented crossmedia reporter to create stories across radio and online for the triple j Hack program.
Your stories will originate in bold accessible and relevant program ideas for young Australians 18 29.
This position requires audio editing social media and digital publishing skills alongside proven editorial judgment and highlevel experience in researching and conducting interviews.
Youll work closely with a team and be able to take direction. Youll also go it alone on occasion travelling around Australia in the search for stories for our target demographic.
You Will:
- Research prepare and present accurate concise and clear stories for the radio program and podcast including conducting interviews and editing final pieces to inform and entertain the audience.
- Demonstrate an original creative and sophisticated approach using a range of complex storytelling techniques both in the studio and in the field for Hack.
- Identify and deliver stories that matter to a youth audience.
- Create digitalfirst articles and social media content for triple j Hack and other ABC sites.
- Travel to regional areas to produce longer form multimedia content.
- Operate studio new media and field reporting equipment including phones cameras and editing equipment to produce cross media content. Advise relevant depts of all faults changes and program requirements.
Position Description:REPORTER
As part of the application process we ask you to upload examples of your work. This will need to include one short video and one audio/radio piece (max 5 minutes duration).
About You
We are seeking a creative reporter with proven experience in developing and producing creative accessible and relevant program content including live and packaged field reports for radio. You will have a creative approach to story construction and delivery for radio and online as well as a strong and detailed knowledge of key issues that are relevant to and affect the 1829 audience.
You will also be able to demonstrate:
- Experience in radio with accomplished editorial skills and judgement. A demonstrated ability to break original stories and initiate research and conduct interviews.
- Strong knowledge of web publishing/multimedia including digital storytelling image manipulation writing for the web and using social media.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. A proven team player with the ability to go it alone when necessary with strong interpersonal and motivational skills.
- Proven ability in working with/and detailed knowledge and understanding of modern broadcast technologies and digital editing systems such as Protools or Final Cut Pro.
