About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to support the development of our Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC)which will help address health inequalities through building research evidence around the wider determinants of health. The Leicestershire HDRC is a National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) funded research team led collaboratively by the County Council alongside partners from local universities.

We are looking for a Research & Insight Manager to help us develop our quantitative research capacity. This will include working with the HDRC team in Leicestershire County Council and collaborating with our partner universities voluntary sector and communities. You will join a team that will work to achieve our project milestones over our 5year plan with the goal of reducing health inequalities.

You will work with the HDRC team in Leicestershire County Council. Your role will be focused on quantitative data and research. It will include getting familiar with Leicestershire County Council data liaising with internal colleagues to explore the depth and breadth of data the council has access to. Alongside this you will link in with other local data sources and infrastructure providing a breadth of knowledge of our local data landscape.

This role includes involvement in research tasks including preparing data analysing data and presenting findings. You will connect with academic staff in partner universities to design and develop innovative ideas write research bids and explore research possibilities enhancing our ability to use and learn from our quantitative data.

About You

To apply for this post you must:

  • Be educated to degree level or equivalent in a subject with good numerical / statistical content and have completed a PhD relevant to public health or wider determinants of health and/or evidence of equivalent research experience.
  • Have experience of research bid writing and delivering research results including research publications.
  • Have knowledge of research techniques and methodologies and experience in quantitative research methods for data collection and analysis.
  • Have experience in assessing and summarising research through quantitative literature reviews e.g. metaanalysis.
  • Have experience in dissemination of research findings to both academic and lay audiences.
  • Have welldeveloped presentation written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write concise and meaningful reports.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills to engage with support and constructively challenge HDRC partners and managers across the Council.

You must also have an understanding of and commitment toequality diversity and inclusion.
