Role description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Track Technical Directorto join our Canadian Rail and Transit team part of a global Mobility team. The Track Technical Director will lead and oversee the design and delivery of trackwork projects from establishing and maintaining client relationships leading a team of Engineers and Designers to delivering successful projects. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and technical background in track design alignment optimization system integration compliance with industry standards and experience in civil infrastructure for clients across freight rail LRT and Subway commuter rail and port rail projects.
Role accountabilities:
Growth and Development: Grow Arcadis track portfolio by establishing and maintaining strong client relationships. Lead bids from conception through RFQ and RFP to win. Work closely with clients contractors and regulatory bodies to ensure project requirements are met and expectations are exceeded.
Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to the design team to ensure successful delivery and execution. Manage design resources to optimize performance and costeffectiveness.
Track Design & Planning: Serve as the subject matter expert in track design. Oversee a team to design track and railway infrastructure in accordance with regulations laws and standards (e.g. AREMA FRA or Transportation Canada TCRP Report 155 UIC). Develop detailed track design plans incorporating alignment curvature grading elevation and system and drainage elements. Optimize layouts for efficiency safety and sustainability while adhering to project specifications. Ensure design incorporates special trackwork turnout crossovers storage tracks etc.
System Integration & Coordination: Collaborate with designers of other railway subsystemssuch as signaling traction power systems civil works structures roads and drainageto ensure seamless integration and holistic solutions. Coordinate across multiple disciplines to deliver complex projects while addressing technical challenges effectively.
Compliance & Standards: Ensure all track and alignment designs meet industry standards regulations and safety guidelines. Stay informed about evolving practices and contribute to the development and refinement of internal standards. Maintain compliance with health and safety laws related to design processes.
Collaboration & Project Delivery: Work closely with project directors and multidisciplinary teams to ensure track and alignment designs integrate seamlessly into overall project scopes. Supervise and mentor junior designers ensuring highquality deliverables. Provide technical expertise during construction phases and resolve designrelated issues as needed.
