About the role:
Principal Architects are expected to provide deep business and technical expertise across all of our focus areas in the cloud.
They are thought leaders and can respectfully guide and challenge clients to ensure they receive the highest level of value from their technology investments.
While this role is largely focused on technical and consultingbased delivery directly with customers the Principal Architect may also be required to act as a people manager for a team of 5 direct reports of Architects and Engineers. This would include tasks such as having regular onetoone meetings having professional development and goalsetting conversations and acting as part of a communication and feedback system with your direct team.
Additionally you would help to escalate administrative or projectrelated issues brought to your attention and provide recommendations towards performance reviews and promotions for your team.
What youll be doing:
Report directly to OpsGuru Leadership.
Confidently discuss every stage of the technology adoption cycle all the way from the CEO to the developer across multiple technical domains.
Assigned to several accounts and are expected to work with their clients to become a trusted technical advisor.
Thought leadership.
Guide and challenge clients in a respectful manner to ensure they receive the highest level of value from their technology investments.
Provide oversight to project teams to ensure technical outcomes align to solving customer business problems within project budgets and timelines
Work with Engagement Managers to help manage project scope and work with project teams and customers to help manage project expectations and delivery quality
Participate in the sales process typically in a presales or equivalent capacity
Work alongside our Account Executives and Presales Architects to scope and provide support on creating statements of works for our clients as well as being heavily involved in account management.
Your skills & experience:
Technical and Consulting
7 years of experience delivering professional services or providing product management for one or more workloads on major cloud providers (Amazon Web Services Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure). Preferably delivering one or more of the following:
Insights from Data (Big Data Machine Learning etc.)
Cloud Adoption in enterprise and small to mediumscale environments
Microservices adoption
Infrastructure as Code adoption (Terraform CloudFormation etc.)
Cost reductions
10 years of experience in a relevant information technology environment
A history of delivering presentations to a wideranging audience including CxO and VP level executives
A history of managing multiple complex projects with a wide variety of stakeholders simultaneously
Sales experience preferably in a presales function
Confidently model costs and explain the total cost of ownership model of various methods of hosting infrastructure
A history of holding a budget and can model project costs and provide resourcing plans
A history of handling customer requests and escalations
People Management:
Ability to adapt your communication style to individual team members
Be an ambassador for the company by being able to explain our business mission and values to customers
Able to provide candid and constructive feedback to team members
Have a bias to take ownership of challenges facing your team and see them through to conclusion
An instinct to ask why to get a deeper understanding of problems
Ability to establish trust with your team and invest in building professional relationships
Able to have gap analysis conversations and help team members define effective goals
Ability to inspire and motivate others without needing to micromanage
Strong emotional intelligence and listening skills
Experience leading technical teams
