The Purpose:

As the Senior Manager Fraud Advisory you will be part of the wider AP Fraud and Scams team on a mission to leverage our unique position as the Scheme Operator to lower Fraud and Scams across the AP ecosystem. The Fraud and Scams teams has 2 core functions:

  • Fraud Advisory Analytics and Operations
  • Fraud Products

This role sits in the first of these and:

  • Provides internal Fraud and Scams consultancy services to the Business Payments (NPP and BPAY Schemes) team and the Retail Payments (eftpos Scheme) team.
  • Identifies opportunities and makes decisive changes to uplift the Scheme Rules and ensure they remain consistent with best practice management of Fraud and Scams.
  • Attends external Industry roundtables and bilateral meetings with members to communicate the pipeline of change influence change and manage any matters that arise regarding Fraud and Scams.

It is also autonomous meaning you need to be comfortable transferring high level objectives into meaningful initiatives and delivering them. Proposed Role Responsibilities are:

  • Provide internal Fraud and Scams consultancy services to other Payments and Schemes product teams. This means using your knowledge and expertise to assess the impacts of initiatives and recommend best practice. From timetotime there will be a difference of opinion on the way forward. This role knows how and when to compromise between setting a high bar for F&S and managing commercial outcomes. You will resolve conflicts of judgement quickly.
  • Become an expert on the AP Scheme Rules as they relate to Fraud and Scams identify gaps and set a course to close them.
  • Interpret high level objectives and translate these into initiatives you will deliver. You will focus on risks early.
  • Prepare reports on F&S trends and macro events and from timetotime present these to senior stakeholders in AP and its members. These will be expertly and concisely written.
  • Represent AP at industry events and maintain a high standard of professionalism.
  • Bring enthusiasm passion and curiosity to a high performing culture.

Proposed Position Requirements are:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience within a Fraud and Scams team with at least 2 years managing similar responsibilities.
  • Preference for candidates within Financial Services and/or Consultancy experience.
  • People leadership experience is desirable
  • Proven expert in identifying issues and opportunities to uplift Fraud and Scam management across payment products (specifically cards and accounttoaccount).
  • Well informed on key industry trends including legislation impacting Fraud and Scams (e.g Scams Prevention Framework).
  • A sound understanding of the technologies solutions and tools used to manage Fraud and Scams to prevent detect disrupt respond to and report fraud and scams.
  • Familiarity with payment systems and infrastructure is desirable.
  • Familiarity with sound risk management (i.e. Risk Frameworks) including measuring and managing risks using controls.
