Role: Associate Scientist
Location: Bothell WA - Onsite
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a senior associate scientist to help manage our internal protein inventory and assist with routine antibody purifications. Your primary activities will be to fulfill inventory requests perform FPLC-based antibody purifications and analyze purified material to confirm quality. Your work will support the core protein production group within the Research department and will play a critical role in driving preclinical efforts to develop novel antibody-based therapeutics.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regularly monitor self-assign and update inventory requests
Use LIMS interface and Excel workbooks to fulfill and document assigned requests
Manipulate protein samples under sterile conditions inside a biosafety cabinet
Purify antibodies with AKTA Avant equipment
Characterize purified proteins by UPLC UV-vis and Mass Spectrometry methods
Maintain detailed records of purification experiments in an ELN
Complete general lab upkeep including buffer preparation and basic FPLC/column maintenance
Communicate activities to the team and troubleshoot any issues elevating problems to management as needed
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Regularly interact with members of Protein Solutions Group particularly the Purification sub-team
Regularly interact with inventory requestors particularly members of the Conjugation and In Vivo groups
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree in STEM field (e.g. Biology Biochemistry Chemistry) with 2 years post-degree lab experience
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
Wet lab experience using pipettes and maintaining sample sterility using biological safety cabinets
Hands-on experience with FPLC protein purification
High attention to detail and successfully accomplishes meticulous work
Demonstrated ability to handle simultaneous responsibilities and adapt to changing priorities
Able to identify concerns investigate solutions and escalate to management
Work in a team-based environment employing a solution-based approach
(Preferred) experience with protein analytical methods (e.g. analytical SEC HIC mass spectrometry)
(Preferred) experience keeping records in ELN systems
(Preferred) writes or understands advanced Excel formulas and VBA or other coding languages
PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Able to lift and move 25 lbs
Hard Skills:
