We are seeking a Asbestos Abatement Supervisor for a position in the Metropolis IL area. This position is responsible for exercising independent judgment and supervising / directing a group of workers engaged chiefly in one occupation. Nonexempt role; Reports to the Superintendent or Site Manager; Develops procedures for performance of a variety of duties / performs complex duties within established guidelines.


Essential Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent
  • Require an Asbestos License with the state of IL
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Foreman in specified skill or equivalent combinations of training and related experience
  • Basic plus TWIC required
  • DISA
  • Sets a high standard to be followed for Turner and Client Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Projects clear expectations to all employees under his/her supervision
  • Proficient in the craft he/she is supervising
  • Obtains excellent leadership and mentoring skills
  • Preferred to have NCCER craft certifications and leadership certifications such as NCCER Crew Leader or Turner Leadership Training
  • Postoffer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Must be able to pass background check
  • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven long sleeves steel toe boots etc.)
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat safety glasses gloves respirator hearing protection safety harness with lanyard etc.)
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Functional Requirements:

Interprets blueprints sketches written and/or verbal orders Estimates workerhours and materials required to complete the job Assigns duties lines up and follows up all work and is responsible for production of the unit Inspects work to ensure adherence to company standards Trains and assists workers in the performance of their duties Supervises and coordinates activities of assigned construction workers Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedule using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel Analyzes and resolves work related problems Implements project safety programs May maintain time production and other records May study schedules and estimate workerhour requirements for completion of job May make cost estimates for contracts Perform additional assignments per supervisors direction.


Compensation

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement:

May be required to do the following: climbing ladders scaffolds structures etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders scaffolds structures etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level waist level and/or overhead; carrying objects tools equipment etc.; standing / sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; wearing respirator and other PPE; typing /data entry; stepstool use; work in excessive heat; work in excessive cold; work in loud environment
