Job Description

Job Title: Peg Lathe Fixer 2nd Shift

Location: Burnham ME

Reports To: Chris Blomgren Manufacturing Manager

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Peg Lathe Fixer is responsible for monitoring and fixing all Peg Lathes during the entire shift focusing on safety product and exceptional quality of the product.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess lathe department for problems daily
  • Set work priority
  • Knife changes as needed and oil all machines every two hours.
  • Continuously monitor lathes for problems
  • Cover Peg Lathe Operator breaks
  • Always maintain efficiency and quality
  • Assist with housekeeping of the area
  • Any other job duties assigned by supervisor
  • Must be able to drive a forklift


QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous Manufacturing or knife grinding/lathe experience a plus
  • Mechanical skills
  • Ability to use calipers
  • Basic understanding of knife angles and cutting surfaces
  • High evaluation ratings in dependability and cooperation
  • Ability to coordinate eyes and hands rapidly and accurately and make precise hand movements with speed.
  • Trouble shooting ability


SKILLS/PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability and willingness to operate a forklift
  • Lock out/Tag out specific training
  • Arc Flash training
  • Heater Reset Training
  • Selfstarter who can motivate others
  • Production and quality minded with good communication and prioritizing skills
  • Must work well alone and as a team
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to remain organized and focused in a fastpaced work environment
  • Good handeye coordination
  • Must be safety minded. Use proper body mechanics and proper lifting techniques. Always wear hearing protection safety shoes and safety glasses. Never put your fingers or any other body part into a running machine. Always keep area clean to ensure there is not debris on the floor that could cause you or anyone else to fall.


EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with team members
  • Must be able to safely navigate the production facility OSHA compliant. Appropriate shoes for standing on concrete flooring is recommended.
  • Ability to work on feet all day
  • Ability to work at a moving belt
  • Ability to lift push/pull 50 lbs.
  • Ability to walk on cement an entire shift


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works in manufacturing environment. The noise level in the facility is usually moderate to high. Hearing protection is required and supplied.
