Job Title: Therapeutic Mentor
Hourly Pay: $23.33
Work Schedule: Work Hours Vary; generally MondayFriday
The HamptonNewport News Community Services Board is seeking a passionate and dedicated PartTime Therapeutic Mentor to support youth in our community. In this rewarding role you will provide both inhome and outofhome educational support behavioral interventions training and crisis management services to children and adolescents living with moderate to severe emotional challenges developmental disabilities or substance use disorders and their families.

Since 1971 the HamptonNewport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of highquality essential and communitybased services to citizens of the Peninsula who are living with a mental illness developmental disabilities and substance use disorders.
As a PartTime Therapeutic Mentor with the HamptonNewport News Community Services Board you will play a vital role in supporting children and adolescents living with moderate to severe emotional disturbances developmental disabilities or substance use challenges. In this dynamic position you will provide inhome and outofhome education behavioral interventions and crisis management services to promote growth across academic social and independent living skills. Key responsibilities will include: crisis intervention and behavioral support participation in treatment planning outreach and service provider linkage and positive role modeling to guide and inspire youth.
To thrive as a PartTime Therapeutic Mentor at the HamptonNewport News Community Services Board candidates should hold a bachelors degree in a human services fieldsuch as Social Work Psychology Sociology or Counseling and have at least one year of clinical experience supporting emotionally troubled children and their families. Alternatively applicants with five years of relevant clinical experience may also be considered. Success in this role requires strong communication skills empathy and a solid understanding of behavioral interventions for youth with emotional disturbances and intellectual or developmental disabilities. Proficiency in crisis management behavioral analysis and accurate documentation is essential as is a commitment to upholding client confidentiality. A valid Virginia drivers license is necessary to provide both inhome and outofhome services. Most importantly candidates should be dedicated to fostering selfesteem and personal growth in the youth they mentor.
