Description
The Health and Wellness program at Iona University is seeking an experienced knowledgeable and studentfocused adjunct instructor to teach one or more laboratory sections of HS 136 and HS 137 Human Anatomy and Physiology I and/or II during theacademic year (renewable per semester). This introductory course for nursing and health science majors covers basic anatomy and physiology of the human body. We are seeking a proactive innovative and engaging individual who can integrate various technologies into their teaching (i.e. Blackboard Ultra Anatomage 3D4medical Anatomy). The individual will teach demonstrating laboratory techniques and utilize materials including anatomy models.
Responsibilities include:
- Laboratory Instruction: Lead lab sessions guiding students in handson exploration of anatomy and physiology topics such as skeletal muscular nervous cardiovascular and other major body systems.
- Assessment: Administer and grade lab assignments quizzes and practical exams to evaluate student understanding of course material.
- Student Support: Provide guidance and answer questions during lab sessions fostering an engaging and supportive learning atmosphere.
- Safety Compliance: Uphold all safety standards and protocols in the lab ensuring proper handling of equipment and specimens.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with lecture instructors to ensure lab activities reinforce course content and align with curriculum goals.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Education: Masters degree in Biology Anatomy Physiology or a related field is required; candidates with relevant professional experience are encouraged to apply.
- Experience: Prior teaching or laboratory experience in anatomy and physiology at the college level is preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in laboratory practices and safety effective communication and the ability to engage students in active learning.
- Commitment: A passion for teaching and a commitment to student success in a diverse academic environment.
