Job Description

Join the Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) House Staff (Resident) Moonlighter Team at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

We are seeking motivated residents to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain handson clinical experience in a highacuity academic pediatric emergency department with direct support from PEM faculty.

As a PEM House Moonlighter you will:

Initiate the evaluation and management of Emergency Severity Index (ESI) level 2 3 4 and 5 patients including the management of pediatric patients with common urgent complaints such as fever vomiting diarrhea respiratory distress minor trauma lacerations and ingestions.

Manage multiple patients simultaneously (up to 3 at a time).

Share clinical notes promptly.

Precept with attending physician for patient assessment evaluation discussion and disposition.

Participate in collaborative discussions and teaching with the attending physician.

Qualifications:

Completion of first year of a ACGME Pediatric MedicinePediatric Emergency Medicine Residency Program and completion of one Emergency Department rotation in the Masonic Emergency Department.

Have a medical license and DEA (DEA can be waivered) in the State of Minnesota and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.

Clear understanding of ED workflow and efficiency.

Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously with sound clinical judgement.

Proficiency in essential emergency procedures (e.g. suturing).

Effective communication with nursing staff consultants and ancillary personnel.

Compensation and Benefits:

M Physicians will provide compensation in the amount of $100 per hour.

This casual position is not benefitseligible. M Physicians will provide Professional Liability/Medical Malpractice Insurance.
