Required Endorsements: OSPI/WA state Teaching Certificate with K12 Special Education endorsement or multiple subject areas
Essential Functions
- Coordinate specialized instruction with general education curriculum as appropriate.
- Train supervise and teach staff assistants specialized personal assistants and volunteers.
- Provide individual and group instruction so that each student can achieve scholastic educational objectives.
- Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health attitude and learning problems.
- Establish monitor and adjust behavior management for individual needs. Establish and maintain standard of student behavior needed to achieve effective participation in all activities.
- Participates or leads development of positive behavior support systems and development of intervention strategies.
- Work effectively with multidisciplinary team other professionals and with the community.
- Hold parent conferences to discuss the individual students progress. Communicates with teachers and parents regarding student discipline matters.
- Maintain records and submit reports as required or appropriate.
- Possess a working knowledge of district policy state and federal laws pertaining to student behavior attendance special education and educational requirements.
- Supervise students in outofclassroom activities during the assigned periods.
- Assists administration in monitoring and supervising students at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assists other personnel for the purpose of ensuring a efficient and effective work environment.
Other Functions
- Serves on staff committees as needed.
- Performs related tasks consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position.
Qualifications
- Must qualify for a valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements as required by law.
- Ability to implement classroom management procedures for large and small groups of students providing an environment conducive to learning.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and oral form.
- Ability to integrate relevant technology for the purpose of student learning across curricular areas.
- Flexibility and adaptability in varied conditions and settings.
- Ability to assess the needs of students and implement effective lessons to meet those needs through the use of appropriate instructional materials.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of staff and stakeholders.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students in a mutually respectful supportive and accessible manner.
- Ability to relate positively to students and adults of varying socioeconomic cultural ethnic backgrounds learning styles and/or disabilities.
- Ability to process information in order to make sound judgments and decisions.
Education:Bachelors degree in job related area
