Job Description
Job Title: Staff Accompanist
Reporting Relationship: Coordinator of Staff Accompanists
Unit: IWUMarion
Department: MusicIWU Marion
Campus Location: Phillippe Performing Arts Ctr Marion IN
Duties and Responsibilities
- Accompanying weekly lessons and rehearsal for upperlevel music students
- Accompanying senior recitals Young Performer Series recitals Upper Divisional examinations juries Departmental recitals and freshman auditions
- Accompanying rehearsals for any musical or opera production
- Playing for choral or any other ensemble groups when necessary
- Working in cooperation with the accompanist coordinator of the school
Qualifications:According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
- The candidate must hold a minimum of Bachelors degree in piano performance (Masters preferred) have excellent sightreading ability and experience in collaborative piano
Experience
- Experience accompanying at the undergraduate level is a must
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
Required Skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to sightread and learn music quickly
- Collaborative spirit
