LOCATION: Oncampus located in Tiffin OH
JOB TYPE: Fulltime faculty 9month contract
Tiffin University (TU) was founded in 1888 and offers accredited undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration criminal justice social sciences creative and media arts humanities education sciences technology and health. The Universitys campus in Tiffin Ohio blends traditional historic and modern buildings creating a vibrant and welcoming educational community for its students faculty and staff. Students can pursue associate undergraduate and graduate programs both on campus and online as well as at Terra State Community College. In addition TU offers Bachelor in Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees in Bucharest Romania and educational opportunities for students from Switzerland and Latin America. The University also provides an online Ph.D. program in Global Leadership and Change.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Tiffin University is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice for oncampus classes in the School of Criminal Justice and Social Sciences. This position is located on Tiffin Universitys Main Campus in Tiffin Ohio and will require residency in proximity to Tiffin Ohio.
Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in Criminal Justice a J.D. or a terminal degree in a closely related discipline. ABD will be considered with a projected completion date provided. The most competitive candidates will be able to show demonstrated success in teaching at the college/university level. Evidence of scholarship in criminal justice and/or the social sciences is desired.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teaches a fulltime teaching load in the fall and spring semesters consisting primarily of oncampus undergraduate and/or graduate courses with the opportunity for summer teaching.
- Provides direction and leadership within the classroom by displaying an effective working knowledge of the subject matter and by demonstrating best practices relating to teaching/instructional techniques.
- Engages in academic advising/faculty mentoring with assigned students majoring in a criminal justice program.
- Participates in service to the university through committee membership and collaboration and service to the community through established relationships and partnerships.
- Pursues research interests and agenda in the field of criminal justice.
- Employs a professional demeanor in all communications with students staff faculty and community members.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES FOR THE JOB
Education
- Doctoral degree in Criminal Justice a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school or a terminal degree in a closely related discipline.
- Masters degree candidates with significant work experience in the field of criminal justice will be considered.
- Significant work experience in the field of criminal justice is defined as significant years if not decades of quality fulltime work experience in a criminal justice agency or organization.
Experience
- Professional experience in the field of criminal justice is highly valued along with teaching in a college and/or university setting.
Other:
- The academic rank of the hired candidate will be based on the candidates educational and professional qualifications at the time of hiring.
The professor may teach day evening and/or Saturday undergraduate and graduate courses in criminal justice criminal law and policing. The candidate may also have the opportunity to teach online courses in these disciplines.
