Through methodical planning and implementation of a carefully crafted curriculum our students will embark on a journey filled with confidence as they transform into lifelong learners with the skills to pursue their dreams.
Performance Responsibilities:
Provide students with intensive instruction in speech language communication and pragmatic language skills as determined by the Team process and subsequent IEP formulation
Assess students via formal and informal test measures
Participate in the development of students Individual Education Program (IEP) or Service Plans
Assist teachers and other special education staff in the development and implementation of curriculum accommodations/modifications and appropriate classroom strategies as determined by the Team process and subsequent IEP formulation
Maintain appropriate records and provide timely reports.
Experience working with/or extensive professional knowledge in diagnosing and treating students with languagebased learning disabilities and dyslexia.
Keep abreast of new information innovative ideas and techniques for students with communication disorders
Work collaboratively with regular and special education staff and other service providers on best languagebased practices across all academic settings.
Provide information on Languagebased learning disabilities and best accommodations and modifications to support students with this profile.
Strong understanding of the interrelationship between oral and written language.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with school personnel and students.

Qualifications:
Masters Degree
DESE License of Speech and Language (All Levels)
Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure as a SpeechLanguage Pathologist
Minimum of 2years experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist preferably in a school setting
Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the areas of child speech and language development
Expertise in team teaching and collaborative curriculum planning
Experience and willingness to evaluate screen and perform testing to monitor literacy and language growth inform lesson planning and support the admissions process for potential students
Ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues
Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC)
Certification in Orton Gillingham preferred or willing to obtain certification.
Certification in Lindamood Bell preferred or willing to obtain certification

Job Goal: Screen children whose speech language or auditory processing is of concern to teachers administrators or parents through observation consultation review of childs history and administration of screening and evaluation instruments.
Physical and Environmental Demands: The physical and environmental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
1. Ability to work in a classroom and school building environment.
2. Ability to move freely about the building to perform duties with students and teachers.
3. Ability to utilize computers and other administrative technologies appropriate to the position.
Salary/Benefits:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with South Shore Stars Board approved
compensation plan and commensurate with experience and certifications.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by
South Shore Stars
Work Year: A school year position (184 days) and occasional evenings and weekends for parent/guardian engagement and/or student and agency events.
