Job Description

When Alfred Fain founded a small Rhode Island tire store in 1924 at the time no one could have predicted how Teknor Apex would become an international custom compounder sought out by companies around the world. After a nearly hundredyear journey thats carried us through acquisitions and expansion we now have nine U.S. locations as well as operations in Belgium Singapore Germany and China.

Throughout this global expansion Teknor has remained a privately held company and today Fains grandson sits at the helm maintaining the familys tradition of fostering deep employee and customer relationships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain workflow by monitoring team members and resources; implementing lean principles; monitoring reporting procedures and systems; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Accomplishes maintenance results by communicating job expectations; planning monitoring identifying and coordinating training needs appraising job results; initiating coordinating and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Maintains staff by training coaching counseling and disciplining employees.
  • Ensure proper operation of equipment across multiple production departments or areas by issuing and completing work orders.
  • Interact with other managers supervisors and production workers on maintenance issues.
  • Coordinate and lead projects related to equipment installations and modifications by overseeing project budget review of technical drawings and management of project procurement activities and contractor selection.
  • Develop innovative solutions to troubleshoot production machinery issues and train others to improve machine efficiency.
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing team members on the proper use of equipment and resources; maintaining compliance with established environmental and safety policies and procedures.
  • Desire to improve professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; establishing personal networks; benchmarking stateoftheart practices.
  • Ability to interact tactfully and courteously with employees vendors and contractors
  • Maintain housekeeping and 6S standards.
  • Identify quality issues and attain established productivity standards.
  • Perform related responsibilities as required or directed.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Associates/Technical degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 10 years of related maintenance experience.
  • 35 years experience in a maintenance leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions.
  • Experience with maintenance systems.
  • Strong communication and coaching skills.
  • Ability to lead change and motivate others.
  • Peoplecentric approach to daily business tasks and interactions.
  • Capability to solve problems and troubleshoot innovatively and effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word Outlook PowerPoint and Excel and knowledge in or ability to quickly learn other computer applications.
  • Strong organizational skills time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to compile analyze and interpret data.
  • Ability to complete a Six Sigma Green Belt training course: Introduction to Six Sigma methodologies tools and techniques including DMAIC (Define Measure Analyze Improve and Control). At least three years of fulltime paid work experience in areas related to the Six Sigma Green Belt Body of Knowledge.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular punctual attendance consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time squat bend twist and turn as needed to perform the job.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs multiple times throughout the shift.
  • Must possess good manual and mechanical dexterity to perform job duties.
  • Remove tooling and properly reassemble using basic hand tools. Basic motor skills are required to perform the necessary mechanical aspects of this job in an efficient manner.
  • Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds multiple times throughout shift.
  • Must be able to wear required safety equipment.
