This is a senior level road design engineer responsible for the design and preparation of projects assigned to the region design unit ensuring conformity to MDOT and American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) design standards. This position also assists in providing direction to the region design unit solves complicated and unusual design problems prepares reports estimates and special provisions as well as attends project related meetings and public meetings.
The Salary listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate through the maximum rate of the Transportation Engineer 12 position.

Education
Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
ExperienceTransportation Engineer 9 12
Possession of a registered professional engineer license as required by the State of Michigan may besubstituted for 6 months of experience at the Transportation Engineer 912 levels. This substitution mayonly be used once for any employee for qualification of appointment or early reclassification.
