Peace & Justice Center Manager of Training and Civic Engagement (PJCMTCE) (Fulltime 40 hours) Exempt


BUILD Inc. (Broader Urban Involvement and Leadership Development) is presently seeking a committed selfmotivated and innovative individual to join our team. BUILD is a nationally respected gang intervention violence prevention and youth development organization based on Chicagos West Side. The Peace and Justice Center will offer a series of workshops training opportunities adult and youth programming and events designed to uplift and strengthen the Westside communities. The (PJCMTCE) will be tasked with organizing designing and coordinating these events and ensuring they remain responsive to community input. The (PJCMTCE) will help to develop a vision for community engagement and empowerment through restorative justice training civic engagement youth and adult programming a speakers forum and other educational opportunities. The (PJCMTCE) will also supervise the Supervising Coordinator of Youth Leadership Development and ensure that the PJCs youth work is integrated into the vision. The (PJCMTCE) will oversee all the tasks associated with executing a robust calendar of communityfacing events. The (PJCMTCE) will collaborate with the Continuous Quality Improvement team around survey development data collection and evaluation. This role is designed for someone with deep connections in the Westside communities and steeped in a pedagogy of restorative justice youth development community empowerment community organizing and education. The (PJCMTCE) reports directly to the Director of the Peace & Justice Center.


Responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Design a curriculum of training opportunities workshops speaker series civic engagement workshops and other educational events responsive to the needs of the Westside neighborhoods
  • Organize and coordinate the logistics as well as the content and deliverables of the events
  • Conduct outreach into the community
  • Maintain partnerships with organizations providing community engagement activities workshops training and oversee coordination in support of those events
  • Manage recruitment and enrollment for all adult programs
  • Supervise the PJC Coordinator of Youth Leadership Development
  • Assist with tracking and grant reporting
  • Attend community meetings events and other partner meetings as requested
  • Maintain records of events and oversee documentation tracking and evaluation of training and civic engagement efforts
  • Collaborate closely with Manager of Partnerships and the Director of the PJC
  • Participate in staff meetings inservice trainings and on and offsite visits
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements


  • Bachelors degree required
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience in a related field
  • At least three years managing a team programs and staff
  • Experience providing training in restorative justice required
  • Experience facilitating peace circles required
  • Experience working in and around civic engagement and civic leadership
  • Experience working with CBOs community stakeholders CPS and faith based institutions required
  • Experience developing curriculum
  • Experience with community collaboration and coalition building required
  • Youth Development experience required
  • Familiarity with the communities BUILD serves strongly preferred
  • Fluent in Data and Program Evaluation
  • Proficient in Microsoft and all Google platforms
  • Budget planning experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong strategic planning skills
  • Flexible schedule for events on evenings and weekends.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required
