Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate must have a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education Child Development or related field. They must currently possess or be eligible to obtain a Virginia State Teaching License with a specific endorsement in Ealry ChildhoodEducation. Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices. Additionally strong oral and written communication skills are required. The candidate should also exhibit a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of best instructional practices. Positive interpersonal skills are essential for effective interaction with students staff parents and the community. Moreover the candidate must be willing and able to adhere to the standards for ethical and professional conduct set forth by the State Board of Education. The candidate must have patience creativity and enthusiasm for working with young children and a commitment to providing a nurturing and supportive learning environment for children.

DESCRIPTION

The Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing a safe nurturing and stimulating learning environment for preschoolaged children. They will develop and implement ageappropriate curriculum facilitate activities that promote social emotional and cognitive development and maintain open communication with parents and caregivers. They assess students progress identify challenges and adjust teaching methods accordingly. Additionally they play a key role in advocating for their students ensuring they receive the resources and support they need to succeed academically and socially.

GENERAL DUTIES (May not include all duties performed)

  • Plan and implement daily lesson plans and activities that align with curriculum goals and objectives.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where children feel valued and respected.
  • Provide individualized attention and support to meet the unique needs and interests of each child.
  • Foster positive social interactions and teach essential life skills such as cooperation sharing and problemsolving.
  • Monitor and assess childrens progress and development and communicate regularly with parents and caregivers about their childs growth and achievements.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to plan and coordinate special events field trips and parent involvement activities.
  • Maintain a clean organized and safe classroom environment adhering to health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Attend staff meetings professional development sessions and parent conferences as required.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture where all students are respected and valued for their unique abilities and contributions.
  • Adhere to the professional code of ethics and maintain confidentiality regarding students information and progress.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION

Work is performed under the direct supervision of theSchool Principal.

WORK CONDITIONS

Duties performed are typically in the school setting. Performs professional work providing support and consultative services for assigned department/program. Work requires frequent standing sitting walking and light lifting. Some assignments are subject to deadlines inherent in tailoring and delivering programs to meet the needs of diverse groups. Some assignments may involve exposure to risks associated with interactions with parents and students in heightened emotional states. Employees may be required to perform emergency and nonemergency healthrelated services for students as needed.

CONTRACT LENGTH

200 Days

*This salary applies to candidates who are properly licensed and endorsed in the areas for which they teach. Salaries will be updated following the 202526 budget confirmation.

CONSIDERING A FUTURE IN TEACHING
If you hold a bachelors degree and are willing to commit and take steps toward earning your teaching license you may be eligible for an Associate Teacher position. Associate Teachers serve in full teaching roles while receiving support and guidance as they work toward licensure. The Associate Teacher salary for 202526 is approximately $48265 (pending budget approval).
