Job Description

DHS Varsity Field Hockey Coach

  • Reports To: Athletic Director
  • Danvers Public Schools seeks a Varsity Field Hockey Coach for Danvers High School
  • Job Description

  • The goal of a Coach is to organize coordinate and promote a comprehensive athletic program in the assigned sport that is designed to meet the needs and interests of the school community.
  • To provide effective leadership that will ensure a positive learning environment and will stress the importance of academic achievement. To demonstrate a high degree of ethics professionalism human relations and be a positive role model for all students.
  • Responsibilities and Duties Comply with all MIAA Rules and Regulations as well as those of the Danvers Public Schools.
  • Teaches sportsmanship cooperation work ethic and responsibility to ones team. Manages uniforms equipment and school facilities in a responsible manner; follow the school policies involving financial transactions.
  • Communicate to all participants the expectations of the team relating to school sponsored activities.
  • Monitor athletes school attendance grades and personal conduct.
  • Be responsible for public relations and publicity for the assigned athletic program; follow set procedures for communicating with parents/guardians as well as student athletes.
  • Conditioning athletes appropriately for activities requiring endurance strength and agility.
  • Provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship; compile and maintain accurate individual and team performance records; participate in the awards program(s) according to school procedure.
  • Ensure that adequate supervision is provided for all students involved in the program; provide for the safety of participants by inspecting facilities and equipment and being aware of environmental conditions.
  • Issue collect inventory and store equipment consistent with department guidelines. Instruct participants in safety procedures and in the need to report injuries to the coach and/or trainer immediately; implement appropriate procedures for handling injury situations; ensure the availability of a properly supplied first aid kit and emergency care cards at all times.
  • Work with and assist Athletic Director and Assistant Athletic Director in scheduling contests. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and or Principal or his/her designee.

    Qualification

  • Knowledge of the assigned sport to be coached. Previous experience coaching is preferred.
  • Ability to comply with all MIAA Rules and Regulations and coaches Code of Ethics.
  • Employment based on successful completion of a CORI background check.
  • This is a stipend position to be paid out at the end of each season.
  • Individuals must be CPR/First Aid Certified and complete the MIAA Fundamentals of Coaching Course.
