Principal Software Developer Digital Enterprise Solutions Inc. (DESI) seeks aPrincipal Software Developer to join our team of qualified diverse professionals in pursuit of a future contract award. ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES: - Lead software engineering efforts aligned with Department of Defense (DoD) and NAVSEA guidance incorporating local Systems Engineering Processes and applicable commercial standards.
- Conduct Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) to evaluate and recommend optimal information system solutions.
- Direct and supervise daily activities across all delivery areas serving as the technical program lead with responsibility for delivery team performance.
- Manage the full software development life cycle ensuring compliance with DoD policies Risk Management Framework (RMF) and relevant security standards.
- Develop maintain and migrate solutions using Department of Navyauthorized cloud system providers including cloud strategy development and gap analysis.
- Implement secure software development practices including threat modeling CI/CD pipeline integration and incident response planning.
- Define and report on key security metrics and continuously monitor cybersecurity threats vulnerabilities and compliance issues.
- Develop strategic software project plans that align with DoD mission objectives facilitating interagency collaboration to ensure interoperability.
- Provide documentation and regular reporting to DoD leadership on project status milestones and cybersecurity readiness.
- Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in software engineering processes across the Department of Defense enterprise.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this position you must meet the education and experience listed below: - Bachelors degree in computer science information technology or an equivalent technical degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered for this position you must minimally meet the knowledge skills and abilities listed below: - Fifteen (15) years experience in leading and directing the technical and operational projects as well as for defining the software requirements/specifications.
- Five (5) years experience in software management or software development experience.
- Must hold at least one of the following certifications: CASP CE CCNP Security CISA CISSP (or Associate) GCED GCIH or CCSP.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- US Citizenship is required due to US government contract requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance (interim required to start).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates with experience or knowledge in these desired skills will be given preferential consideration: - Familiarity with NSWCPD programs or Naval Surface Warfare technical environments.
- Experience facilitating interdepartmental collaboration within the Department of Defense (DoD) to support interoperable software solutions.
- Familiarity with integrating security tools into the development and operations toolchain in alignment with DoD standards.
- Experience promoting and enforcing secure coding practices and conducting threat modeling throughout the DoD software development lifecycle.
- Demonstrated ability to define and track key security metrics providing reports to DoD leadership.
- Uptodate knowledge of evolving cybersecurity threats vulnerabilities and DoDaligned best practices for continuous improvement.
- Strong understanding of DoD RMF compliance frameworks and cybersecurity practices.
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and Microsoft cloud services integration.
- Active SECRET clearance.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: The compensation range is based on industry compensation data and/or position budget and reflects our commitment to transparency and fairness: - The annual/hourly compensation range is $150000 to $180000 commensurate with education certifications and experience.
- Other compensation may include discretionary bonuses referral rewards and spot awards.
