Job Summary

Guest Service employees will perform functions in the Bone Student Center around operations ushering and security services. This position is critical in providing our campus community and guests with exceptional customer service offering relevant information directions resource materials and a safe environment to enjoy the activities located in the Bone Student Center. Student employees will assist in monitoring activity throughout the building and surrounding areas enforcing building/ University guidelines and reporting any issues to the appropriate staff. Lifting between 20 and 40 lbs may be required.

Applicants must be able to start this summer to be considered.

Pay Rate

Preferred Qualifications for this position include but are not limited to the following:

Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working as a team player and placing clients as a top priority.
Maintain uniform and nametag while on duty.
Must be mature dependable able to function calmly under pressure have the ability to make sound and independent decisions.
Multitasking abilities excellent time management and problemsolving skills.
Ability to work weekend and evening hours during the academic year and summer and/or holiday availability is desired.
Ability to set up event rooms as directed ensuring cleanliness and proper equipment.
Assist the public during events taking tickets passing out programs and finding their seats.
Secure entrances/exits complete bag checks operate detecting devices and check IDs.
Perform other duties as assigned

Work Hours

Varies based on building operations and event needs.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without reasonable accommodations:


Move furniture and lift heavy objects occasionally up to 60 lbs.
Repeatedly bend/kneel/stoop as needed
Stand for long periods of time
Climb stairs
Spend many hours on your feet
Effectivley communicate on a daily basis

Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of oncampus employment for all positions held.

International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of oncampus employment when the university is in session but may work more when the university is not in session.
