    QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Current Arizona State Guidance Counselor certification.
    2. Degree required in relevant field of study.
    3. High School experience preferred
    4. Five years of counseling experience preferred
    5. Knowledge of ResearchBased School Disciplinary policies and procedures
    6. Have knowledge skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies.
    7. Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    1. Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions
    2. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form
    3. Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff students parents and community members
    4. Ability to understand and maintain students and parents rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students.
    5. Demonstrate leadership and management skills in the workplace.
    6. Demonstrate ability to use technology in the workplace.
    7. Utilize with fidelity the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
    8. Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position is held in the highest of confidentiality.
    9. Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws district procedures and Board policies; including mandatory reporting procedures.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Coordinate the activities and management of the Student Services Program which includes but is not limited to PBIS committees or other related programs. Work in conjunction with school counselors and behavioral specialists to develop systems to support positive behaviors sitewide.
    2. Assists in establishing department objectives and developing a plan to implement and evaluate objectives.
    3. Assists in recruitment hiring training and assigning within the counseling department.
    4. Conducts department meetings and attends relevant school district and professional meetings as necessary.
    5. Advises the principal on the needs of students and counseling departments.
    6. Assists in identifying and using community resources for all department needs.
    7. Implements an ongoing program of evaluation and improvement for the counseling department.
    8. Collaborates with staff to promote interdisciplinary programs.
    9. Revises and prepares training manuals for counseling staff and certified staff as needed
    10. Assist in campus supervision during noninstructional time (before school passing time lunch and after school). Monitor and manage school security including security officers and monitors.
    11. Schedules mediations when conflict exists between students.
    12. Schedule parent conferences as directed by the principal/assistant principal.
    13. Work with community agencies (Crisis Team Department of Child Services Police etc.) as directed by the principal/assistant principal.
    14. Assist in the management and coordination of all educational including
    15. Master schedules counseling guidance organization of additional counseling programs and other school events.
    16. Other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or designee.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to reach with hands and arms sit stand walk stoop and bend as employee maylift carry push pull or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 10 pounds and could occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. The employee will read correspondence and computer screens and use the telephone.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    Indoor school building and classroom environment and ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with students staff and the public.
    Indoor office environment. This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have substantial contact with parents students staff and the public.

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
    The School Counselor reports to the site administrator. The School Counselor will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
    Starting at $50753.06
    SUPPLEMENTAL:Classroom Site Fund $10000 annual or prorated based on start date!
    WORK YEAR:260 day contract 4 non school teacher work days 17 paid holidays.
