Dean Of Students Elementary TOSA
POSITION SUMMARY
The Dean of Students Teacher on Special Assignment will provide support to the students staff and administrators of Eastside Schoola grade K2 school by creating and maintaining a framework for tiered systems of behavior support and accountability for students. The Dean of Students will maintain a cooperative attitude with staff parents and students. The Dean of Students reports to the Principal or their designee and does not evaluate any employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Required
- A minimum of a bachelors degree
- Holds a teaching OR administrator license from Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Oregon (administrators license or teaching license)
- Experience with student supervision and management
- Adept at managing multitiered systems of support for behavior and social and emotional learning interventions
- Knowledge or experience in Collaborative Problem Solving and /or NonViolent Crisis Intervention Prevention Strategies or related behavior management training
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Student supervision and enforcement of schoolwide behavior expectations
- Act as an advisor to students and parents with school and district policy
- Assist staff and parents in developing student behavioral expectations
- Plan develop and implement of individual student behavior plans
- Establish systems for student discipline and attendance including suspensions and preexpulsion conferences
- Develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships
- Model personal behaviors of honesty fairness courtesy and consideration
- Maintain a cooperative relationship with administration staff students and parents
- Communicate with parents specialists and students
- Communicate with classified licensed and administrative staff
- Instruct and direct assigned instructional assistants to maximize delivery of instructional services
- Supply documentation of student progress to MTSS teams and Intervention Specialists
- Provide timely and accurate feedback/documentation to students and parents
- Preserve appropriate records of student performance
- Keep parents and teachers informed through written and oral communication
- Maintain an ongoing personal program of professional growth and development
- Develop and implement annually an approved plan for professional growth and development
- Participate in District sponsored inservice offerings appropriate to assignment
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal and/or superintendent
- Perform duties in accordance with District policy and terms set forth in the negotiated agreement
- Assume a share of responsibility for nonclassroom student activities with the assigned workday
- Maintains integrity of confidential information relating to students staff or district patrons
- Skillfully manages individual group and organizational interactions

- Completes paperwork accurately. Verifies and correctly enters data
- Averts problem situations and intervenes to resolve conflicts
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with students parents and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English Spanish or other languages related to the job
- Ability to work harmoniously with others
