Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and detailoriented individual to join our Environmental Health & Safety team as an Environmental Technician. In this role you will be responsible for the safe collection packaging labeling and handling of hazardous waste in compliance with RCRA regulations and company procedures. This is a great opportunity to gain handson experience in environmental compliance and hazardous materials management.
Essential Functions:
- Collect hazardous waste from various generation points across the site.
- Properly label and date containers in accordance with RCRA and sitespecific requirements.
- Safely package hazardous waste materials for storage or offsite disposal.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of accumulation areas and waste storage zones.
- Complete and maintain waste tracking logs and documentation.
- Inspect waste containers for leaks damage or improper labeling.
- Assist with environmental audits and regulatory inspections as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols wear appropriate PPE and report any safety issues.
- Coordinate with other departments and contractors as required.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in various environmental conditions.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 4 years prior experience 2 year postsecondary/AA Degree and 02 years prior experience.
- Ability to understand and follow safety instructions and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Able to don and doff PPE required for job task.
- Able to follow emergency response requirements.
- Able to operate material handling equipment (forklift etc.).
- Able to interface with contract personnel.
- Basic knowledge of hazardous materials and waste handling is a plus.
- Valid drivers license
