Ring is seeking an experienced embedded firmware developer to help develop firmware for our IoT devices including our Ring Smart Lighting products and Ring alarm sensors. In this role you will be responsible for writing application logic code for our security lights and alarm sensors. You will work closely with the software and program managers to ensure reliable firmware deployments.
Key job responsibilities
Develop C code on ARM Cortex M wireless microprocessors.
Write application logic code for our security lights and camera accessories
Work with QA to get development tickets across the line for release
Investigate issues that may arise with deployed firmware
Follow direction from Software Manager Program Manager and lead engineers
Document all designs and decisions
Groom development tickets with the team
A day in the life
As an Embedded Firmware Engineer on the Ring Solutions team your primary focus will be developing firmware for our wireless batterypowered and solarpowered Ring devices. This includes our security lights and alarm sensors. Youll work within our agile development processes participating in the full firmware lifecycle from initial embedded system design to implementation testing and ongoing support for devices in the field. Collaborating closely with the software program management and quality assurance teams youll investigate and help resolve any firmwarerelated issues that arise always keeping the customer experience as the top priority. Your daytoday may involve code reviews sprint planning troubleshooting and documentation to ensure the smooth delivery of reliable firmware updates.
About the team
The Ring Solutions Embedded Development team is responsible for creating the firmware that powers our core IoT devices including security lights and alarm sensors. Our team is distributed globally with development leadership based in the US.
As part of this team youll be working closely with software engineers program managers and quality assurance to integrate our lighting and security products with the broader Ring and Amazon product ecosystem. The team is passionate about developing innovative reliable smart home solutions that enhance our customers safety and security.
3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
