The successful candidates will play a vital role in deploying fibertothehome (FTTH) networks. This endtoend role supports the entire physical layer deploymentfrom ductwork to operational fiberensuring quality performance and compliance with safety and industry standards.
Pay: $2030/hr
Shift: MondayFriday 8am to 5pm
Key Responsibilities:
Microduct Installation:
Install 14/10mm microduct within 1.25 HDPE conduit and handholes according to construction plans and specifications.
Inspect conduit pathways for blockages or damage and clear as needed.
Secure and organize microduct to prevent movement or damage during future cable installations.
Accurately document conduit conditions microduct placement and deviations for future reference.
Fiber Cable Blowing:
Operate cable blowing equipment to install micro fiberoptic cables into preinstalled microducts.
Monitor cable blowing to maintain correct tension and avoid kinks or damage.
Identify and resolve minor obstructions or equipment malfunctions during installation.
Record fiber cable details including lengths and endpoints for splicing teams.
Splicing and Testing:
Perform precision fusion splicing of micro fiberoptic cables in handholes or designated splice points.
Conduct OTDR power meter and light source testing to ensure proper splice quality and signal performance.
Troubleshoot and repair signal loss or splice issues in the field.
Log OTDR traces test results and splicing records for project documentation.
Teamwork & Safety:
Collaborate with installation blowing and splicing crews to ensure smooth workflow and successful project delivery.
Adhere to OSHA standards and safety protocols while working in outdoor and confined environments.
Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.
Qualifications:
12 years of experience in telecommunications utility construction or fiberoptic installation (experience in all three phases is a plus).
Familiarity with HDPE conduit microduct systems and micro fiberoptic cable handling.
Proficiency with cable blowing machines fusion splicing tools OTDRs and power meters.
Ability to interpret construction drawings plans and work orders.
Comfortable working outdoors in varied conditions including handholes and confined spaces.
Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to field sites.
OSHA 10 certification preferred; FOA CFOT or equivalent splicing certification is a plus.
