Job Description

Under the guidance of the Associate Director Communications and Employer Relations the Employer Engagement Strategist will research and report on issues related to employers and market trends. This includes responding to employer and alumni inquiries sent to Career and Professional Development (CPD) and proactively engage in outreach to prospective employers. This position supports the Director who cultivates relationships with employer organizations seeking partnerships with LMU for campuswide talent acquisition and development. Candidates will work cooperatively with the Director and CPD team to develop and advance employer relationships as well as conceive and launch programs with external employers. The goal of these efforts is to enhance career readiness and increase internship opportunities and career employment outcomes for LMU students and alumni.

The Employer Engagement Strategist will become proficient at using Handshake and will have a key role in planning campuswide career fairs and employer networking events. In this role there will be opportunities to evaluate and promote existing and new employer partnerships as well as consult with employers stakeholders and students to design meaningful internship experiences. This work will help recruit and champion diverse and inclusive workplaces and strengthen campus partnerships and employer engagement.

The Employer Engagement Strategist will also have the opportunity to join oncampus recruiting activities and support related communication marketing and social media efforts to promote awareness about events and CPD. The Employer Engagement Strategist role is very demanding and requires a deep sense of commitment to the betterment of fellow Lions and to the mission of CPD.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Program Design:

  • Utilize specialized academic/professional interests and skills to work with the CPD staff to develop relevant projects and programs for improving and expanding CPDs services.

Event Management:

  • Assist in the preparation and operations of careeroriented events.

  • Administrative: Perform general office/clerical work such as editing documents using Microsoft

  • Office answering phones making copies sorting forms and flyers placing promotional Aframes around campus and preparing gifts.

Requisite Qualifications

  • Typically a Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge skills and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.

  • Two years of administrative support experience.

  • Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of Microsoft applications including Word and Excel.

Salary range

$22.88 $28.61 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
