TheTrades Specialist with journeylevel trades experience performs maintenance repair construction installation and diagnosis tasks on County fixtures equipment and facilities to provide new and exceptionally wellmaintained facilities for park users so they can enjoy a comfortable outdoor experience.
This position is located at Parks and Recreations Durango Facility at 2410 S. 27th Avenue and requires travel to facilities throughout the Maricopa County Regional Park system.

At approximately 120042 acres of parkland and 872 miles of trails Maricopa County is home to one of the largest regional park systems in the nation. Currently there are twelve parks in Maricopa Countys regional park system. Each is unique and offers its visitors a wide variety of recreational opportunities.
The Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department oversees the Maricopa Trail a 315mile trail system that encircles the valley and links all regional parks together. We Require
High school diploma or GED
Three years of journeymanlevel experience in one or more areas of specialization (i.e. carpentry HVAC locksmithing masonry painting plumbing welding equipment operation etc.)
Must obtain a valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement issued by the state of Arizona within six months of the hire date
Maricopa County is required by state and federal regulations to conduct a preemployment safety history investigation for all positions that require an applicant to possess a commercial drivers license (CDL). Maricopa County is also required to conduct a preemployment safety history investigation for positions that directly impact commercial motor vehicle safety but which may not specifically require a valid CDL
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona drivers license by the time of hire
We Also Value
Journeymanlevel experience beyond the minimum qualifications in masonry welding/fabricating electrical equipment operation and/or plumbing. Welding certification is required for Trades Specialists who will perform welding
Job Contributions
Perform skilled complex maintenance repair installation and troubleshooting duties in the areas of masonry electrical duties welding fabrication plumbing and equipment operation; estimate time labor tools equipment and materials needed for jobs
Diagnose adjust repair replace service construct fabricate remodel refinish inspect paint and weld etc. County fixtures and facilities
Transport and operate heavy equipment as licensed and certified in performing maintenance repair installation and troubleshooting duties constantly travels to work sites using county vehicles to perform related work; towing trailers of various sizes
Read and interpret blueprints maps schematics and specifications; offer design and conceptual ideas and prioritize work to meet needs and schedules
Utilize computers and automated systems may order purchase pick up and deliver materials supplies and equipment needed for the job; keep basic records
Oversee work crew which may include other Trades Specialists park staff volunteer staff and/or community service designees
Other job duties as assigned
Working Conditions
Exerting 50 100 pounds occasionally 10 25 pounds frequently or up to 10 20 pounds constantly
Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures wetness/humidity respiratory hazards and noise and vibration
Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts vibrations fumes odors dusts poor ventilation chemicals oils extreme temperatures inadequate lighting workspace restrictions intense noises and travel
Machines tools equipment software and hardware
Operate various hand tools and power tools. Operate light and heavy equipment. Towing trailers of various sizes driving Freightliner Dump Truck GVW 58000 Freightliner Dump Truck GVW 66000 Freightliner Water Truck 3500 Gallons
Protective Equipment Required:
Eye protection hard hats gloves safety vests and steeltoe footwear
