Job Goal: The Special Education Teacher works predominantly with students with social emotional disabilities their families and the content teachers that serve them. Significant experience with this population of student needs is preferred excellent mediation and communication skills are essential. Performance Responsibilities:Champion the districts effort to effectively and successfully serve all studentsAnalyze data share and use data to inform instruction and support student achievementPlans a program of study that as much as possible meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the studentsKnowledge of a variety of academic strategies and differentiating instructionCreates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of studentsCollaborates with content certified teachers to modify curriculum for special needs students and increase inclusion opportunitiesStrong behavior management skillsSupporting social emotional and behavioral skills developmentAssesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports updated IEP goals and objectivesConfers frequently with parents and professional staff members regarding the educational social wellbeing of tutors and paraprofessionals as designated by the Principal or the and maintains records and documentation pertinent to the Special Education program as required by state and federal special education responsibility for professional growth and in special education team meetings and faculty meetings when assigned. Identifies student needs and works with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health attitude and learning with parents and school personnel on student professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the school and/or through selfselected professional growth : Reports to the Building Principal and the Director of Student Services
